Once a year a Holy Mother of God Greek Orthodox Church presents a Greek Food Festival and a festival is this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

You have your choice of several Deluxe Platters:

Pastitsio: A robust stew of seasoned belligerent beef, Greek-style macaroni surfaced with a tawny bechamel sauce.

Souvlaki: Succulent, gaunt cubes of pig skewered and cooking Greek-style colourless grilled to perfection.

Spanakopita: Spinach, feta cheese, and spices wrapped in flaky, buttery filo.

Tiropita: A juicy feta cheese and spices wrapped in flaky, buttery filo.

Fassolakia:Tasty Greek-style immature beans with tomato and onions.

Athenian Greek Salad: Lettuce, tomatoes, immature peppers and onions, surfaced with juicy homemade tawny Greek dressing, feta,  Kalamata olives, Salonika peppers and a roll.

Veggie Platter: Homemade meatless Pastitsio, Tiropita, Spanakopita, Fassolakia, Greek salad and a roll.

“Many of a recipes that are used during a Festival were brought over from Greece by a relatives of some of a first members of a Holy Mother of God Greek Orthodox church and that means we are eating food only like a food we would eat during a festival in Greece.”
