New: Aviation Rooftop Bar and Kitchen

While a cool, early Oct grand opening precluded this rooftop square grill from being a summer blockbuster of 2017, Aviation is headed for cult status. Located only a few doors down (and 3 floors up) from Livermore Cinemas, a indoor-outdoor space delivers pricey artisanal burgers, qualification cocktails, and internal beers, and—above all—a pleasing perspective of a Tri-Valley. The luscious Dallas burger comes with dual critical strips of smoked bacon while a Paris chronicle brilliantly pairs tawny Brie with tart, sticky-sweet red booze onion jam. But a grilled duck sandwich dwarfs a burgers; only ask for additional aioli to slather on a toasted ciabatta roll. Frito cake and “tatchos” (tater kid nachos) are fun appetizers, while healthy entrées embody a frail nonetheless rather tasteless sesame duck salad. Brought to we by a owners of Livermore’s always renouned tavern The Last Word (apparently, they had some-more to say), Aviation is firm to take off. 2470 First St., Ste. 300, (925) 292-9915, aviationlivermore.com. Dinner Tues.–Sun., brunch Fri.–Sun. 234$$
