In 2009, Connie and Bob Bade started a tradition of baking cookies for deployed soldiers. The Bades would select a day any year to bake thousands of cookies that they would package and send all over a world. The tradition lasted for 5 years, until Connie Bade upheld away. During those 5 years, a integrate sent some-more than 15,000 cookies.

Now, a Bade family is formulation on starting a tradition adult once again. Dan Bade, Connie and Bob Bade’s grandson, has enlisted a support of 20 family members to assistance move behind a Cookies on Deployment initiative.

The baking spectacular is scheduled for Feb. 4. This day was selected since it will assistance move hearten to a infantry after a holiday rush, during a time when packages and letters start to decline. Dan Babe’s idea is to bake, package and send 4,000 cookies total.

The cost of this beginning comes during a price.

While baking a cookies is cheap, shipping them can be intensely costly. Some packages of cookies will cost $15 any to send overseas.

The Bade family has set adult a GoFundMe page to collect donations so they can send as many cookies as probable to a troops. The page says that all donations will go toward baking ingredients, still for handwritten records and shipping costs. So far, Cookies on Deployment has lifted $215 of their $3,000 goal.

Cookies on Deployment is also seeking a names and addresses of use members who would like to accept a package of cookies. If we know of a desired one who is deployed, we can send their information to [email protected].
