Burgerology and New York Burger Bar owners open Rocco’s Pizza in Bellmore

After opening 3 successful burger restaurants on Long Island, a Galatoulas family is holding on pizza: Rocco’s Pizza in Bellmore is a latest try from a owners of Burgerology (branches in Rockville Centre and Huntington) and New York Burger Bar in Massapequa.

Rocco’s takes over a small storefront during a dilemma of Camp Avenue and Newbridge Road that has prolonged housed a pizzeria, many recently Marge Anthony’s and, before that, Pepe’s and Luigi’s. It’s a plcae that John Galatoulas knows well. “I grew adult in a neighborhood,” he said. “Both my mom and we went to high propagandize during Mepham right down a travel so we were always here.”

For a pizzeria, John teamed adult with partner Rosario Manzella, who had been a cook during Burgerology though also has decades of knowledge in Italian restaurants. At Rocco’s (named for his Sicilian grandfather), he is upping a ante for area pizzerias with hand-cut fries, sandwiches on homemade focaccia and resourceful entrees such as duck breasts “Mona Lisa,” surfaced with roasted peppers, asparagus and mozzarella in a shallot-white booze sauce.

Not that pizza gets brief shrift. Manzella is unapproachable of his grandma cake (“I got a salsa recipe from my possess grandma.”) and such specialty pies as inverted Sicilian, duck Caesar and “the best duck bacon ranch.”

Rocco’s has 4 booths, dual tables and foresees a lot of takeout.
